You : You should take her in to the emergency room for swallowing the hair tie. They may need to do an x-ray to see where the tie is - if it is stuck in her throat, windpipe or esophagus (tube that connects the mouth to the stomach), then they will need to remove it as soon as possible. Even if the object is lodged in her throat, many kids can drink and even eat around it, so being able to eat/drink isn't a good text to see where it is stuck.

I : I agree with dr mcmullen. Even if the hair tie becomes dislodged, it could have caused irritation or inflammation to the tissues in her airway. If there is swelling in the tissues of the throat or below - it could impact her ability to swallow and/ or breath.
