While : While it is not particularly common, it does happen. More often, patients with dementia go though their drawers and cabinets. There is no specific treatment for this. It helps to make the patient's environment as simple as possible. This rule also applies to communications with the patient: it is best to make them as simple and direct as possible. This symptom, however (going through purses) does not necessarily mean that the person has alzheimer's or other dementia and a thorough evaluation by a specialist (geriatric psychiatrist, geriatrician or neurologist) is the best course of action.
