Depends:Cause & Rx: Goiter can appear for a variety of reasons and the treatment & effect on a fetus varies with the cause. One of the most worrisome is immune thyroiditis. This can cause up or down thyroid levels in you & the antibodies can cross the placenta & cause problems for the baby. If this applies in your case, close followup with your physician is very important for you both. Much can be done to reduce risks.

Not necessarily: It all depends on your thyroid profile as having goiter does not necessarily mean low thyroid state. Have your thyroid levels checked and discuss it with an endocrinologist familiar with gestational thyroid physiology.

Baby: It is likely that your goiter is due to hashimotos disease - an autoimmune disorder. The antibodies causing this can cross the placenta but would not cause problems to the child in utero. Have the pediatrician check baby closely after birth. It's uncommon for a baby to be affected by mothers thyroid issues but it can happen.
