Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women to take flavoxate?

Yes: Flavoxate or urospas has been assigned category b by the fda. Many of the drugs used in pregnancy fall under this category and while appear to be safe, the patient must be aware that there are no controlled studies using the drug in pregnancy. As alway, you should consult your doctor for their advice. To read more about drugs and pregnancy, see this link: http://www.Medscape.Com/viewarticle/746.

Unknown: According to the manufacturer it is unknown if flavoxate passes into breast milk. A good rule of thumb is that the safest drug in breastfeeding women is no drug.
