Arthroscopic : Arthroscopic surgery is normally an elective procedure. Going under general anesthesia with an upper respiratory infection is not a good idea. You are at a higher risk of infection of the operated joint or risk additional complications such as pneumonia, a compromised airway, etc. It is smarter to cancel the surgery and do it another day.

Yes,if no fever: If you are having arthroscopic shoulder surgery(labral repair, rotator cuff, etc.) electively u can have surgery@our surgery center w/ a cold as long as you dont have a signifigant fever or other symptoms.Check w/your surgeon;some will say to re-schedule even if u are not having a fever...Varies w/docto and sometimes the anesthesiologist..Best of luck!
