Blood : Blood in the stool warrants a medical investigation. Possible causes include hemorrhoids, diverticuli (small pouches that project from the colon), colitis (inflammation of the colon), polyps(benign growths), angiodysplasia(abnormal blood vessels), cancer, and ulcers. You will need to visit your doctor for a complete work up and treatment. Also anemia needs to be ruled out. Best of luck.

Not something: To be ignored, it is not normal. May only be from hemorrhoids or something more serious such as polyp, tumor or inflammatory disease of the bowel. Talk with your doctor immediately and begin the work up as soon as possible. Early detection of the underlying problem is best.
