How can i treat an infected dermal piercing? do i need to go to a doctor? do i need antibiotics? i have a dermal piercing on my wrist. i think it may be infected. i use h2ocean on it and do sea salt soaks. what else can i do?

I : I would consider hydrogen peroxide soaks. Soak a cotton ball and apply for 30 seconds, and then soak a second cotton ball in saline and apply to area for 30 seconds. Dab dry and apply polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) ointment to area. If not improving in a day or two, i would recommend you see your dermatologist for further evaluation and treatment options.

Yes/yes: Go to your MD! And if they determine infection, you will be placed on antibiotics! Don't delay,infections can be dangerous!

See a doctor: for evaluation and treatment. Infection can spread to deeper tissue or the bloodstream if left untreated. Complications occur rarely when treatment is administered properly.
