Chest : Chest pain at rest is a worrisome sign. Cardiac (heart) causes need to be ruled out. A visit with your primary care provider is in order. A detailed history will be done, along with an ekg (test that checks your hearts electrical activity). Based on your history and results of ekg your doctor may set up a test where you wear a monitor (holter) for 24 hours to record any abnormal heart activity. The high heart rate you experienced after donating plasma may have be a result of a drop in blood pressure. This may or may not be related to your chest pain. A more detailed history will help. Bring this up with your doctor. He/she may advise you not to donate for a while. Best of luck.

Sharp pain: These types of chest pain are often caused by a pinched intercostal nerve or muscle that runs between 2 ribs. Since the pains continue off and on for 4 weeks, I would also check for an impingement of a nerve root by a bulging disc or spur in one of the vertebrae of the upper spine as, in my experience, pinched nerves in the rib cage don't usually go on that long. See your MD for exam and tests.
