How : How was it diagnosed? Allergies can occur at any time in life. The only good therapy is avoidance. If you have significant reactions you should carry an epi-pen and have a medi-alert badge. Talk to your doctor about these.

Hard to say: The immune system changes with age. It is less common to develop food allergies as an adult, but it does happen. See an allergist and make sure you have appropriate therapy available for reactions (epinephrine).
