Congestive : Congestive heart failure, as you know, is a serious diagnosis. It can be caused by a variety of issues including heart damage or kidney problems. The term "congestive heart failure" is not truly accurate, as in this day and age it doesn't truly mean your heart is "failing" as it can now be treated. The most important things you can do are take any medications as prescribed, address the underlying medical issues that you have, and be very careful with your diet including sodium consumption (this is very hard to do). Weigh yourself daily and report to your doctor if your weight changes by more than a couple of pounds or if your legs are swelling. Congestive heart disease is a treatable condition. As you know, if you have weight gain, shortness of breath, increased cough, chest pain, or swelling you must be seen medically.

CHF: You need to see your doctor and get diagnosed as to the cause of your problem. Depending on the cause we have a variety of treatments for CHF which can both improve quality and quantity of life. There are some kinds which don't respond well to treatment and we sometimes need to consider heart transplant in these severe unresponsive situations. Most often we can help folks if they'll help themselve.
