Absolutely: The way to fix this is to slowly resume an exercise routine. Do not over do it, but gently exercise and slowly increase your intensity over time. Trainers are very good, but sometimes push too hard to too fast. At 18 your goal HR would be about 140 BPM for 20-30 min 3X/wk to start. If the issue is more significant than this or there are other symptoms than you should get it checked out.

High heart rate.: Deconditioning, as you have described, can let your resting heart rate gradually rise. The solution? Get back into exercising!
