Costochondritis : Costochondritis is inflammation along the area where the ribs meet the cartilage. The cause is usually not known. Advil or anti-inflammatories usually help but costochondritis can be persistent. You can try a warm pack (be careful it isn't too warm), and try alternating the advil with tylenol (acetaminophen). If you develop a rash in the area, change of pain, radiating pain, fever, cough, or shortness of breath, then you will need an immediate medical evaluation.

Yes: If chronically sever and isolated to one or two joints would isolate with selective steroid blocks to those joints if provides only temporary relief for days or weeks then candidate for resection of the joint.
