A : A normal blood pressure for an adult is 120/60. 10 points higher or lower is typically okay and within normal range. If you are at rest, your blood pressure can be lower. Advise your doctor if your systolic blood pressure (top number) is less than 95 or over 140. While anxiety can cause an increased blood pressure, it will be important to also document and communicate major changes in blood pressure (i.e. Changes within 20 points of systolic blood pressure).

Normal range: BP lying down and sitting up are generally pretty much the same. Withdrawal from benzodiazepines, if done too rapidly, can result in higher blood pressure as a withdrawal syndrome response. Whatever your normal pressure is (110/70 is average) should be your lying down blood pressure while being tapered from xanax, (alprazolam) especially if Clonazepam is being used to help taper you.
