Is there a such thing as positional a fib? i was diagnosed with a fib...when i lay down i start to get a fib, but if i get back up it stops

Positional : Positional atrial fib is a new thing. There is paroxysmal atrial fibrillation that comes and goes for various reasons. You might have an atrial myxoma or something irritating your atria causing the atrial fib. Most atrial fib comes from the pulmonary veins and there could be something irritating that area of the heart. If you are young then Aspirin and finding out the cause may be thhe cure. You do need an echo done and ecg.

Possibly: It's possible but unusual. The heart does work harder when you're lying down as opposed to sitting upright. A fib generally lasts longer than seconds though. You may be experiencing precursor atrial premature beats rather than actual a fib. Wearing an outpatient Holter Monitor would accurately record and identify the dysrhythmia you describe.
