Part : Part of the answer could be carpal tunnel syndrome. Numbness and tingling in the hands at night that awakens you is one of the hallmarks of this diagnosis. You could try taking vitamin b6 in the range 100 to 200 mg per day. This is available without a prescription at a drugstore. You could also buy a wrist splint a drugstore or walmart for the hand that bothers you the most and try wearing that as much as possible to see if it helps your symptoms. "wrists locking up" could be muscular spasm. This could be due to an electrolyte abnormality, such as low potassium. Or it could be related to what may be carpal tunnel syndrome. You could try taking a daily multivitamin. You may need to have some blood drawn at a laboratory, such as a basic metabolic panel, to get your electrolytes checked if the above mentioned options do not help things at all. The best way to get a correct diagnosis and treatment is to find a hand specialist in your area. You could start with an internal medicine or family doctor, but they may end up sending you to a hand specialist anyhow, which would end up costing you more money in the long run. Insurance is not mandatory to see a doctor, but you need to be prepared to spend some money out of pocket if you do not have any. You can certainly shop around and find out who would be willing to give you the lowest price for a consultation.

See a neurologist : As soon as possible. These are not normal findings and should be addressed and corrected.
