Depends on stage: Early detection of prostate cancer allows for excellent outcomes with either robotic prostatectomy or radiation therapy. The younger a man is, the more i encourage a surgical treatment as radiation has long term risks of secondary cancer (20 years or more after therapy). Some men with low grade cancer may be candidates for surveillance under close supervision.

Debatable: There are many options. I am more aggressive with younger patients and more aggressive disease (surgery). As a man ages a little i lean towards radiation and if small volume, less aggressive disease i will often use active surveillance. Cryo occasionally. Discuss with your doctor and talk to both urologist and radiation oncologist before deciding. www.peedoc.com @thepeedoc.
