Depends: I hate to give that anwer but it really does. It depends on your starting weight. If you are underweight, we want you to gain 40 -45 pounds. If you are of normal weight, 30-35 pounds. If you are overweight, less. Too much weight gain can have serious consequences including increased risk of cesarean delivery, diabetes and shoulder dystocia.
