No: The answer is no in general. Hydroceles are due commonly to anatomic problem a persistent opening exist when it shouldn't-congenital hydrocele. These resolve with resolution of the anatomical problem i.e. The spontaneous closure of the opening; rarer is the percent reactive hydroceles: these exist because of trauma/injury-these will resolve with time (nsaids (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories help).

Not in kids/adult: Inflammation within scrotum from eg from epididymitis may cause a small acute hydrocele which will can resolve with nsaids, but true hydroceles in adults are caused by xs fluid seretion bt tunica vaginalis oevrlying testis. Small hydroceles in babies may resolve spontaneously in 1st year of life. > 1 year communicating hydroceles, hydrocelees of the cord or large ones respond to surgery alone.

Possibly: If you have a reactive hydrocele (ie from trauma, infection, recent surgery, etc) treatment with anti-inflammatories may help.
