Is there a way to prevent my prostate from growing as i get older?

Maybe: Unfortunately, as men age, their prostates tend to grow usually causing more and more bothersome urinary symptoms. Certain medications (called 5-alpha reducatase inhibitors) used to treat bothersome lower urinary tract symptoms (slow stream, weak stream, incomplete bladder emptying to name a few) can shrink the overall size of the prostate.

Prostate: Taking a hormone like proscar may decrease the growth rate of the prostate gland or shrink its size. Discuss this with a urologist before doing so.
