I : I can understand your concern. Some patients get labelled with certain diagnoses, such as "somatization disorder" when they present with confusing problems that are not easy to figure out. Please don't let this frustrate you or keep you from sharing complaints with your physician in the future. It is very important to have an open line of commmunication with your doctor, as you are correct, you certainly do not want to be on medications that you don't need.

Pain in your mind: I want to ask if you have tried psychotherapy? Sometimes that can help uncover what is going on to cause your somatization disorder. Sometimes patients also have depression at the same time. When the depression goes away so does the pain. I suppose your doctor feels you might be helped with pain medication anyway. Does it help? If not, don't take it.
