Colonoscopy? what is the most un-invasive method to get a colonoscopy?

A : A colonoscopy is always invasive. It is a scope with a light and camera on it that goes into the rectum and all around the colon looking for abnormalities. If they are found then most of the time it can be used to remove or biopsy the abnormality. Other tests that look at the colon that are not as invasive are xray studies including a barium enema or ct colonography. These tests can see lesions but cannot do anything about them and colonoscopy is then needed to remove the lesions.

Regular colonoscopy: Although you can do "virtual" colonoscopies (you swallow a little camera) if anything abnormal is found you have to have a regular one anyway; and preparing for a virtual colonoscopy requires a purge as well. I thnk getting a regular colonoscopy is the best way to go and would reserve viirtuals for people who are at high risk for the mild anesthesia associated with regular colonoscopies.
