The : The term "mommy makeover" is generally applied to a combination of surgeries performed in one operation, with a goal of improving the appearance of the breast and abdomen, thus reversing the signs of childbearing. Normally, they will include an abdominoplasty and breast enhancement surgery (such as a lift, augmentation, or even a reduction). These procedures are very common and for surgeons who are adept at the individual operations, the combination operations are safe. So long as the patient is healthy and the procedural combination can be performed under 6 hours, i consider the risk/benefit ratio favorable enough to justify an elective / cosmetic operation. Longer operative times increase the risk of venous thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism, and should be avoided. I do think it is safe to perform liposuction of the flank region during this procedure, but I do not offer lower extremity liposuction in combination with an abdominoplasty due to possibly increased DVT risk. Please review my website regarding mommy makeovers - it has some good general information regarding the possible procedures. Dr.B.

A : A "mommy makeover" is the term that generally describes combination procedures for enhancement of both the breasts and abdomen/trunk area, as well as possibly the thighs, to address unsatisfactory changes that result from pregnancy. Surgical procedures should always been taken seriously to minimize risks and complications, especially for a purely "elective", cosmetic procedure. A 4-6 hour time frame is usually plenty of time to accomplish these type of combined procedures and a healthy woman, properly screened and "cleared" for surgery, should be at minimal risk to proceed. Consult with a plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns. He or she will should give an honest risk assessment and help sort out all issues.

Mommy makeover: What you are describing is absolutely safe. Seek out a board certified plastic surgeon of the aesthetic society (asaps) or asps for a consultation. You procure should be done in an accredited facility with the appropriate anesthesia and the surgery should be performed by a board certified plastic surgeon.

Generally very safe: If the patient is healthy and the procedures are performed by a reputable surgeon, it is very safe. If such a case were to take longer than usual, have unexpected blood loss or anesthesia concerns, an overnight stay at the hospital or surgery center may be recommended.

Generally Safe: Yes, breast and tummy tuck surgery are frequently performed together. However, each patient's “situation” is evaluated individually, with emphasis placed on safety of having the combination procedures. Patient's medical condition and duration of surgery are considered. The safety record of the anesthesiologist and that of the fully accredited surgery facility should be asked about also.

Sounds fine: A tummy tuck, breast lift and a little liposuction is a pretty standard mommy makeover and if you are otherwise healthy you should do well. There are certainly people who try to do to much at once but what you described sounds reasonable. Just review the risks with your surgeon and find out how long he/she thinks it will take.

Very Safe: Good morning! properly performed in a safe facility by a board certified plastic surgeon on a healthy patient with appropriate preoperative precautions taken, a full body makeover in one procedure is safe, effective, and can be life changing. I do full body makeover every week and because we take the above precautions- we have absolutely zero problems. I hope this helps.

Very safe: There are risks with driving a car, and flying a plane as well. Managed risks.....If you are healthy, discuss staged procedures with your doctor. Keep surgery time under 6-8 hours.
