Nagging sporadic cough that has lasted over two weeks nagging sporadic cough started about two weeks ago. when coughing it is a full on gut wretching cough that lasts about 45 seconds which seems more like an hour. will happen several times a day. not

Is : Is cough more at night, if yes you may have underlying heart burn ? Sometimes dry cough could be related to medications if you are taking any? Most importantly ace inhibitors e.G lisinopril/enalapril etc. Other causes include allergic rhinitis( sneezing/ runny nose/clearing throat) and asthma.

URI: Sounds like a upper respiratory infection. May be serious like whooping cough, tuberculosis, or viral. You should see your pcp.
