You : You will typically not need stitches or have scar after a punch biopsy. The biopsy will be done using a small needle where a device to obtain the specimen will be inserted. It is a minimally invasive procedure and you will leave the hospital with a bandaid with minimal pain.

Scar maybe stitches: Punch biopsies are seldom closed by stitches, but can be. All cuts on skin leave scars. These scars become less noticeable with time.

Punch: Yes , a punch biopsy is closed with sutures. A small scar results.

Probably : If a skin punch biopsy is 3 mm to 6 mm in diameter, it will be closed with sutures. If a 2 mm biopsy is taken, it can be left to heal in without sutures. The marks from a biopsy usually fade significantly over a few months.
