Astigmatism : Astigmatism means your cornea is shaped more like a football cut in half rather than a basketball cut in half as in those without astigmatism. If you are not having symptoms of headaches when you don't wear glasses, it's unlikely that the astigmatism is bothering you. There is no good long term data indicating that not wearing glasses to correct a minor astigmatism will damage your eyes in the future. If you start having any vision problems, you should definitely see an eye care specialist.

No evidence: Astigmatism is due to irregular corneal curvature usually. Wearing glasses is unlikely to affect astigmatism. Because hard contact lenses can change the shape of the cornea, not wearing them will allow the cornea to revert to its original curvature. So not wearing your contacts might result in slight worsening of astigmatism.
