A number of things: Changes in diet or medication could be responsible. I had one patient who found the problem develop and not go away until she changed her drug for gerd (gastroesophageal reflux disease). It's a common side effect of those drugs, but one often not discussed. Certain foods are also well known to increase flatulence, so it might be a recent change in your diet.
