If : If there is blistering of an area larger than your palm- seek the advice of a physician. For red areas, or blistering smaller than that, elevate it. You may ice it a few times through a piece of cloth, but don't do this for more than 5-10 minutes at a time, and for no more than half a day total. Over the counter pain medicines will help- try Ibuprofen as long as you don't have stomach ulcers, bleeding problems, or kidney problems. Bandage it with Bacitracin ointment (available over the counter). Keep an eye on it for signs of infection, if the redness spreads, or if there is drainage other than clear or straw-colored, see your doctor. Generally the pain is only severe for 12-24 hours.

Sylvadene: Apply sylvadene to the burn twice daily. Sylvadene is very soothing and will facilitate healing of the burned area.Sylvadenethis is used at the burn centers. The fact that it hurts is good, it means that it is a second degree burn, therefore it will completely heal.
