I'm not quite sure what you mean about a consult, if you have questions about treatment call that doctor that wants you to take the fosamax (alendronate).

Yes: If you are uncomfortable with the recommendation, you don't have to take the medication. Just see your doctor again to discuss your concerns. Often time you will feel better once you understand why he/she is doing what he/she is doing. There are many different drugs used to treat osteoporosis. You can discuss all of this with your doctor.
