Perhaps: You seem to have enough bleeding to warrant an appointment with a gynecologist to see why the periods are heavy. You might have a problem that benefits from medication but you might also have a problem like fibroids that may be better treated with surgery. We often try to improve symptoms with meds before surgery but get a diagnosis for a good decision.
