I have always have very regular cycles. my period ended for about 9 days, and i just started bleeding again. it is very heavy and im passing blood clots and cramping bad, which is unusual for me. what could be going on?

Too early to make a diagnosis at this point. You should observe the bleeding for now. If frequent vaginal bleeding recurs then you should be evaluated by a gynecologist. Good luck.
