Minimum age is 16: With parent's permission, age 16 is the youngest i would suggest for a breast reduction. By then, breast size may have peaked and social and physical issues may be a very big issue for young women with oversized breasts. Many younger patients have this procedure before going off to college. The biggest lament women have after this procedure is that they wish they had done it sooner. All the best!

When growth ceases: The age for breast reduction should be when the breast development has ceased. Typically, once the bony epiphyses have closed (no further growth in height), menses have been regular for two years, and the bra size has been stable for several months, one can consider this procedure. A specific age cannot be stated, as these things occur at different ages for everyone.

None.: Young ladies dealing with juvenile breast hypertrophy with the physical and psychosocial consequences of this diagnosis may be a good candidates for breast reduction surgery at a relatively early age. There is no specific age “requirement”; timing should be individualized based on each patient's situation, stage of development, symptoms, maturity level… future surgery may be necessary.
