Need biopsy to tell!: Leukoplakia is a general term for any red lesion in the oral cavity. Although not all leukoplakia are cancerous, many cancers appear as leukoplakia on the surface. Some cancers are more aggressive than others, so there is no "set" time for leukoplakia to turn into cancer. These lesions should be checked by a dental professional sine early detection is very important in treatment.
