Unknown: There is no way to know the exact time it will take for leukoplakia to turn to cancer. Sometimes leukoplakia may not necessarily turn into cancer. I recommend you see an oral surgeon for an evaluation and get treated asap as this is a precancerous lesion.

Unknown: Leukoplakia is a descriptive term for mucosal white patch, thus it is not certain that all leukoplakia lesions end up transforming into cancer, but some do especially if associated with tobacco usage. Thus it is best to have it removed to determine underlying abnormality and/or have regular exam by otolaryngologist or oral surgeon.
