You gotta eat, right: Certainly not before the local anesthesia wears off, which may vary from a few hours to six or eight hours, depending on what type of "novocain" your dentist used. It also depends on the complexity of the oral surgery. Some wisdom teeth are what we call "poppers" because they kind of pop out with the proper application of dental tools. Other teeth require much more aggressive removal.

Time to Eat: Typically after wisdom teeth extraction solid foods can start slowly being introduced again after 72 hours. It can take longer depending on the degree of difficulty with the extraction. Following the treating doctors instructions is paramount.
