Sometimes: Bloating and gassiness one if the top complaints after a fundoplication. It is because the top of your stomach that used to hold that extra gas was used to create the fundoplication. So now your stomach does not have a place to store that extra gas. Sometimes your body can adjust so you are not so gassy all the time, but not always.

Maybe: Gas bloat is common after fundoplication. Most people with reflux are aerophagic (they swallow air) and this behavior persists after surgery. The operation often prevents belching, so people may experience bloating and increased flatus. This often improves with time.

Sometimes: Excess gas is a common postop complaint after fundoplication surgery. It usually gets better with time but can be a permanent problem in some patients.
