A 40-year-old female asked:
Is a toupet fundoplication a good option for refractive gerd not controlled with ppis and antacids despite diet changes? are the side effects (gas, bloating, risk for dumping syndrome really high) from the surgery and possibly worse than the gerd?

GERD: The procedure is performed on patients who are not having a good quality of life inspite if maximum medical treatment and lifestyle modification. Long term benefit is not guaranteed although short and medium term benefit is generally reported by patients. Seems like you are aware of risks as well. Good luck
