Perhaps: There is a family tendency for aortic aneurysms. Any male having a male relative who had an aneurysm, a father, brother, or uncle, is at greater risk for aortic aneurysm. For males over 50 years of age having such a family history, it is advisable to be checked for aortic aneurysms every 5 years or so. This can be done by non-invasive ultrasound of the abdomen.
