My son has an extra (supernumerary) tooth. what does this mean?

Hyperdontia: We do not know why it occurs.Sometimes the extra tooth will erupt normally but may require extraction if it causes crowding. Some teeth never erupt and can be left alone unless it causes pain. It is important to keep regular checkups with your dentist so they can keep on eye on the tooth. Multiple extra teeth can be indictive of congential diseases-so early diagnosis is important.

Just an extra tooth: Sometime an extra tooth bud forms and we end up with an extra tooth. Nothing to worry about. Depending on the location it may just need to be removed.
