Dispute negativity: Become aware of what thoughts you're having that are leading to anxiety. Write down these thoughts. Think of these thoughts as an incomplete, one-sided opinion about your situation. Now, take the opposing side and think of thoughts that might be associated with more positive outcomes. Think of actions you could take to improve your situation. Perhaps these actions will decrease your anxiety.

Practice breathing: Slowly while relaxing your abdomen & letting it expand as you breathe in & contract as you breathe out. Focus on the sensation of your breath in & out of your nose. Think of a pleasant, safe relaxing place & imagine being there. Observe the details of nature around you. Cuddle with a pet cat or dog. Play with a child. There are many ways to calm yourself. Practice them.
