See below: Not being an expert on autoimmune disease, i would await a rheumatolgist's response, but from a medical logic point of view, autoimmune diseases are diseases that attack one's own body and thus, weaken the body and cause damage that requires energy (overall) so to try to, repair damage. Consequently, your energy levels are "sapped" and your body is destroyed from inside out - why you burn out.
