Spur is not problem.: Spur is merely a sign that there is excessive tension at the attechment of plantar fascia. The tension and inflammation caused by this process is the source of the pain. Therefore treatment should be directed at eliminating and preventing this problem. Treatments such as ice/heat/massage, stretching, more supportive shoes, injections and orthotics are often helpful. Surgery is usully last resort.
