A member asked:

Does vicks vapor rub help alleviate symptoms for a knee arthroplasty?

Yes: The sensation of pain is partly in the peripheral nerves (e.g. Your knee) and partly in the central part of your nervous system (your brain). Although we don't understand why, frequently a topical agent like vick's, aspercreme, or capsaicin (chile peppers) can provide relief from pain.

No: Might feel good on the skin, though.
