Variable: In the early stages, there is delayed uptake in the periarticular surfaces of the bones. Later on the study normalizes. The test is only diagnostic in 25-55% of cases.

Variable results: Crps(sympathetic dystrophy) varies in adults(mainly upper extremity) and children(mainly lower extremity) as well as chronicity of problem. A bone scan with three phases, angiographic, softtissue, and delayed usually shows increased uptake in adults and decreased uptake in children. The phases with increased uptake vary according to stage of disease and treatment. Clinical signs and symptoms.

3 phase bone scan...: Usually a 3 phase bone scan is performed for crps (rsd). For adults, the classic scan is positive on all three phases with increased periarticular uptake on delayed phase.
