A member asked:

I have a large pedunculatedsubmucosalfibroid with heavy bleeding, anemia and severe pain every second month should i have a hysterectomy.i am 50 yrs?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe: Surgery carries the potential risk of complications. Things like obesity, heart disease, and severe anemia can increase your risk for surgery. Some doctors may choose to start a medicine called depo lupron (leuprolide) to shrink the fibroids and increase your blood count prior to surgery. The average age of menopause is 51. Your symptoms may go away on their own very soon. Please discuss risks w/ a doctor.
