Inflammation in AM: May be worse possibly because the pain med you took at bed time has worn off. Also body's natural anti-inflammatory steroids are at their lowest level during the night. With osteo-arthritis, the lack of movement allows joints & muscles to stiffen; pain improves once movement is restored.

Worse at night: It seems everything is worse at night. Things are quiet, still, no physical activity to move chemicals around. Chemicals of inflammation build up in the target areas. Your "pumps" are not as active and you are more aware. No movement. A lot of factors.
