Methylation: The best test is prader-willi methylation studies which have a detection rate of 99%. This is a simple blood test, 1 purple top tube.

Chromosomes: ~60% of prader-willi will be positive with fluorescent chromosome test (fish) for a band on chromosome 15; dna methylation testing for the prader-willi/angelman region will detect all cases.
