This is properly named an HIV antigen-antibody test, or AgAb test. It is the standard, most commonly used HIV blood test. It accurately detects 100% of HIV infection when done 45 days or more after the last possible exposure. (By 3-4 weeks after exposure, it is positive in 95-98% of HIV infected persons.)
