How is colon cancer usually treated (if it's caught early)?

Surgery: If small the cancer may be removed by local excision. Larger tumors will need wider resections to remove any potential microsopic spread.

Surgery : Surgical removal of the tumor. Additional chemo only if warranted based on the stage of the cancer.

May require multiple: A cancer specialist carefully assesses each person's overall condition & all details about their cancer. Frequently, a surgeon will have the patient consult with a medical oncologist & a radiation therapist to determine the most appropriate treatment. Often, supplemental treatment beyond surgery (chemo and/or radiation) may reduce recurrences and improve survival, and sometimes precedes surgery.
