Some are: Some of the leukodystrophies are inherited as x-linked diseases. These include the adenoleukodystrophies - women who carry the defective gene do not have symptoms but their sons are affected. Other leukodystrophies are inherited as recessive (needing two abnormal genes) or dominant disorders.
