MLD: Is a lysosomal storage disease affecting myelin growth, the insulator of nerve fibers, affecting lipid metabolism. It leads to progressive dementia in adults from degeneration of white matter of brain. Also in young ones it causes muscle rigidity & hyper irritability & hyper sensitivity to environment, with loss of hearing & vision.

A 33-year-old member asked:
I am always so tired could this be due to my disability I have leukodystrophy?

Neurosurgery 54 years experience
Leukodystrophy : Unfortunately many brain and muscle diseases are associated with fatigue, either as a primary or secondary effect. Yours is one of them. Symptomatic treatments might be effective but potential side-effects may outweigh the benefits. Consult your neurologist.
